Hooking Impressionistic Floral Gardens: Online Course with Deanne Fitzpatrick

All year people send pictures of their completed rugs and I see how much learning and joy they have gotten from the courses. This makes me love to do them. I love seeing your success. This year I want to infuse the online course with even more creativity sand enthusiasm than past years.
This course will be about hooking floral gardens in an impressionist style to create a modern rug with painterly elements. We will be working through the winter, thinking of summer, and the beauty and scent and feeling it brings as we learn to turn simple and pleasing shapes into impressionistic flowers.
Flowers are full of meaning and we celebrate with them.
This floral landscape will be exciting and challenging to hook, but with the step by step instruction offered in these online videos I can lead you through it.
Flowers are more than just the beautiful petals, they are nested in their natural surroundings, greenery, ferns, grasses, and all the depth that lies under these.
Hooking this workshop will be a feast for our senses. Scent, form, beauty, flow, and touch.
In this course we will be:
- Taking simple shapes and transforming then into flowers through the power of colour and texture.
- Handling materials to make flowers look soft and realistic.
- Looking at how to handle the background to enhance the flowers.
- Looking at other artists and finding floral geniuses to excite and inspire us.
- Looking at how the impressionists painted flowers and translate that to wool and rug hooking.
In this rug you can hook to create your own floral story, your own love of gardens, your own favorite colours.
